I absolutely love the holiday season, and every year, I look
forward to Thanksgiving weekend as the perfect time to kick off the
celebration. This year was no exception, and we've already managed to squeeze in lots of
holiday-related fun.
Here’s a quick look at what we've done so far and what we’ll be up to
in the weeks to come.
Thanksgiving Weekend Festivities
-- Feasting on a delicious dinner of peppercorn
salmon, roasted sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie in keeping with the pescetarian diet
I’ve been following and loving for almost a year now
-- Putting up our tree and decorations, even though we’ve
decided to keep things pretty simple after just having gone through the
hassle of moving and reorganizing everything we own
-- Buying a new couch to spruce up our apartment and get
it looking nice for holiday guests later this month
-- Seeing The
Nutcracker at the Kennedy Center
-- Listening to carols while enjoying glasses of wine and a tasty
cheese platter at Vintage Ridge, one of our favorite Northern Virginia vineyards
Peppercorn salmon and roasted sweet potatoes. Delicious! |
More Fun to Come
-- Heading to a happy hour reunion with my grad
school classmates, along with a couple other parties
-- Traveling to New York City with my mom and sister for
Christmas itself, which I’m incredibly excited about
-- Attending a piano Christmas concert at the Kennedy Center,
along with a New Year's Eve performance of the musical Elf
-- Checking out the Christmas at Mount Vernon holiday displays
Twix wishes you all a very joyous season! |
What’s on your list of holiday musts?
Sounds like you have a lot of fun stuff planned for this month. I've always wanted to see NYC during Christmastime.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm really excited about NYC! It should definitely be a lot of fun.
DeleteBeing in NYC during Christmas time is going to be magical for you! Love that. I love that you have already done so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go to NYC in December too, so I'm pretty excited for that.
The picture of your tree gets me excited to get ours up on Saturday ... I can just picture our cat sitting under the tree just like yours.
How awesome that you'll be going to NYC this month, too! I'm so excited about my trip and can't wait. Have fun putting up your tree this weekend! Our kitties just love batting the ornaments and checking out the presents underneath ours.
Deleteriding around and seeing the lights is a tradition i love.
ReplyDeletethat salmon looks amazing!
Yeah, checking out lights is always fun! We need to see whether there's a popular street or neighborhood with great light displays here in our new area.
DeleteIt sounds like you have a wonderful holiday season ahead of you. Some of my holiday favorites is attending the Nutcracker, baking Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve, spending evenings wrapping gifts with my family.
ReplyDeleteTracy @ Sunny Days and Starry Nights
Great holiday favorites! Baking cookies is always fun during the Christmas season.
DeleteHow was the nutcracker? I want to go! We did Zoo Lights tonight and it was cute.
ReplyDeleteThe Nutcracker was great! It was only at the Kennedy Center during Thanksgiving week this year, but some of the other DC theaters might still be showing it. I would love to go see Zoo Lights, too!
DeleteThanks very much for visiting and reading!

DeleteYour plans look amazing. You just reminded I need to go to the Kennedy centre soon!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the Kennedy Center is amazing! You should definitely go!
Deletesigh..looks like you have such a great holiday season planned for yourself! I'm obviously so happy and enjoying time with my new little one this holiday season..but I do miss getting out and enjoying some of the traditional Christmas events and places I go to to get me into the Holiday spirit. I'm pretty much homebound for the next 3 months!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Laura, and this is one of the reasons I still haven't yet felt quite ready to have a child. I love traveling, going to the theater, going out to dinner, etc., and as much as I ultimately want to have a baby, I know that when I do, it's going to be a big adjustment in terms of not being able to go out and do as much, at least in the beginning. I know you are definitely going to have the most amazing Christmas with your beautiful little girl, though! :)
