As many of you already know, I’m a big animal lover. Cats will
always hold the ultimate special place in my heart, but I also love dogs, rabbits and wildlife of all kinds. So, you can imagine my excitement when we
moved last fall to a neighborhood where we get to see beavers, bats, foxes,
deer, groundhogs, bald eagles, geese, ducks and more all while out taking even the
simplest of nature walks throughout the community.
And, while many of you may have been grilling or hitting the sand
this past Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I also had a great time further
exploring our area while attempting to snap pictures and film a video or two. So far, none of the images we've shot have turned out all that awesome, but we're hoping that if we keep heading out there a few times a week, we'll soon get some that are. And if sightings like these don't convince me to stick with my workout routine this summer, I don't know what will!
A goose and her gosling, who's hiding in the weeds.
Deer sighting from across the pond.
Not exactly wildlife, but super cute just the same. They even took a break from sunning to get me a Mother's Day card a couple weeks ago. The inside says, "As far as cats go, I AM the best." And in my eyes, yup, they are. :)

Do you love nature walks and wildlife, too? What are some of your
favorite animals to spot?
it makes me sad that we have so much wildlife in our cities because it reminds me that most of our buildings were once their home. but it's beautiful when we can go into their settings and see them doing their thing. we have a nature park near our house and we go there all the time. my son was running with the geese family over the holiday..too cute!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know what you mean about wildlife going into cities, and I'm glad that my community has taken steps to at least set aside and preserve space for them. So cute about Baby Pancakes running with the geese! :)
DeleteSo cute! I love spotting wildlife in my area. I see geese all the time, but also ducks, deer, chipmunks, and also bluebirds and cardinals. And of course, squirrels!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome that you get to see wildlife in your area, too! This is definitely one thing we love about having moved farther outside the city.
DeleteI love nature walks but I have not really been surrounded by it since I graduated from college. But seriously, that would motivate me to work out just in hopes of what I'll see.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's the sweetest card ... why didn't my furbabies think of that?! ;)
I'm sure your fur babes love you just the same, Faith! :) And yeah, having the trails all around us really helps me stay motivated to work out, because usually, I have no motivation!
DeleteI almost forget about the wildlife here since it is so suburban. I need to get the boys out for some nature hikes this summer!
ReplyDeleteYeah, one of my favorite things about our area right now is that even though there are a lot of homes, there's a good amount of green space preserved, too. A nature hike with your boys sounds like fun!
Deletei saw a mom and dad goose with their goslings on GA 400!!! i hope they made it!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I hope so, too! We saw a family of ducks crossing a busy street here last week. Luckily, people stopped in time for them to make it safely across!
DeleteThanks!
