With April now officially upon us and my allergy attack/head cold finally on its way out, I’ve definitely been eager to pack away my winter gear and break out the spring styles, including the teal J.Crew flats and printed Anthropologie top I snapped up on sale over the holidays. Though I admittedly sneaked in a couple wears of these pieces during the waning days of winter, there’s something about the combo together that makes me feel especially excited about the warmer months ahead.
I still have a long way to go in learning how to best shoot and display outfit photos, not to mention fix my hair and makeup in a way that photographs well. (Shooting these with an iPhone while we were in a hurry to leave probably wasn't the best idea.) But it’s OK to take a stab and then set a goal to keep improving, right?
Which spring pieces are you most looking forward to wearing, and what’s your advice, if any, for staging great outfit shoots?
I have no advice as that, as you know I show up in pictures maybe twice a month ;) But I love the pop of blue in this outfit!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I love the pop of blue from the shoes, very springy!
ReplyDeleteAnd back when I was doing outfit posts, I found that doing them in the morning or mid-day, in lots of natural lighting made my hair and makeup look better. Can't wait to see more of your outfits!
I love it! Those flats are super cute!
ReplyDeleteAs for advice, I rarely photograph myself for my blog so I don't have many tips. For the pictures that I do take, I make sure we are shooting during the time of day when I can get really good natural lighting (usually sometime in the afternoon).
Shawn and I did an axe murder pinup shoot that I styled myself for. You are SO on the right track with your outfit; I love those shoes!!! I would say to pull that color into your makeup with an essie polish or an eyeliner/shadow in that color, too. Also, pictures outside look SO lovely!Otherwise you have got it goin' on... I'd like this with a Heather-Headband in white, too. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI love those flats, and the blouse is really fun for spring. I'm still getting the hang of outfit posts, but my experience is that outdoors is best for the great lighting!
ReplyDeleteLove the whole outfit but specially the blouse, you look great!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Easter!
Ooh I love your top! I have not outfit post suggestions since I'm camera shy but am thinking about doing them too!

I wish I had advice, it's no secret I'm awful at taking pics...I know it's what holds the blog back.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute outfit!!! xo
ReplyDeletecute shoes!
ReplyDeletecute outfit! i really like the detail in the blouse and the color of your shoes.
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING teal at the moment! I feel like we will be seeing that, and the colour mint a LOT this season! :)
ReplyDeleteWith outfit shoots, I reckon have a ton of fun with it!! Use it as an opportunity to go back to your little girl days and really play around with making the whole outfit, hair and makeup package flow together!
Love the top and the bright flats!! And we feel you on the allergies. We have both suffered this year - Mendi a little worse than me!

Very cute! I love J. Crew and would love to get a pair of the scalloped shorts! I'm looking forward to wearing my dresses more!
ReplyDeleteI love that shirt! Heather the colours look very beautiful and i love the turquoise shoes too! I would say if you are going to take photos indoor for a while it's a good idea to get comfortable in front of the camera. If you are using a tripod I'd suggest putting a full length mirror behind the tripod so you can see how you are posing.
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit. The shirt is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI. Really liking the shoes! Super cute!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, I love that shirt and those shoes are just so stinking cute. Great color to brighten any outfit!

ReplyDeletep.s. i was so excited to finally wear my white skinny jeans :)
ReplyDeleteand as for the best way to take outfit pictures ... hehe, no clue! i just stand in the same place and hope it looks good when i see it :)
