Baby Talk

Lately, it seems that so many of my fellow bloggers, former classmates and plenty of others we know, including those who got married around the same time we did in 2010, are starting their families. I couldn’t be more thrilled for everyone who's announced the good news, and I'm incredibly excited to share their happiness, plus gather ideas and inspiration for the day we’ll welcome children into own our lives.

And though plenty of others are now starting to ask more and more frequently when that day will come, I’m happy to say it likely won’t be for at least another couple years. The truth is that as much as I want to someday have children, I also want a few years to simply enjoy being married – traveling, planning, saving and dreaming with my husband – along with pursuing other goals we’d like to accomplish before babies enter the picture, like completing grad school and hopefully buying our first home together.

Seeing so many beautiful babies and families does at times make me wish that it was already our turn. But then I stop to think about all the other adventures still waiting for us, and I know there's more than enough time to take on that big adventure once we're ready.

So, for now, I feel more than content to simply continue raising my fur children (aka the most spoiled kitties ever) and perusing Pinterest, where my "Baby" inspiration board is growing all the time. And since I'm getting such an early start, I can only imagine how many different ideas I'll have gathered within a couple years' time! Here, a few faves I've clipped to kick off my collection.

Do you get asked a lot whether and when you plan to start a family, or did you in the past? Even if you’re not planning to have kids right away, do you still enjoy gathering inspiration and ideas, the way I do?

  1. The wordle and the mermaid baby are so cute! We haven't quite been married for a year (almost!) so not too many baby questions yet. We're both sort of on the fence about having children, but it's something I feel we need to start discussing since I'll be 31 this year (still young, but I think we need to have a plan one way or the other).

  2. Love these photos! I love looking at baby stuff even though we're not at that point yet. We're also waiting a few more years and are planning to buy a house first. We haven't had too many questions but a few here and there. :)

  3. Some of my friends are also having babies and although I do feel very happy for them, I don't have any plans to have any.
Not only life is very confusing for me nowadays, the world is not getting easier or better to live in so I've decided that I am not up from bringing anybody into such a world.
But don't get me wrong, I still love babies and respect those that are up for mother/fatherhood.
Those photos are great, specially the little baby mermaid!

  5. My hubby & I have been married for almost 4 years now and have been asked many times when we were going to start a family. I too wanted to first enjoy my marriage, get settled into our lives and then think about starting. Well, now we feel it's time. I'm so excited to start trying and your photos are so adorable! They have inspired me to start my own Pinterest inspirational baby board! I'm now following your boards, come follow some of mine too! Look for me: VeilsFairytales

Btw, I too am a wedding planner and I love what I do! Good luck to you!!

    XOXO

  6. You could NOT have put this better. This is SO me!! I am in the exact same boat as you. I want to cherish my alone time with my hubby and focus on looking after my puppy and that's about it. After I've done more of the things I want to do as a couple, I'll feel more secure in doing them as a family, but for now, I'll keep on saving and waiting. After I finish school, would be the absolute earliest. Still, I'm a baby Pinterest freak too and still like looking at all the fun nugget stuff. :)

  7. Almost every friend of mine either has kids or is preg. I'm the lone one! And I'm one of the oldest. My mom is so desperate, she wants me to find a donor online!

  8. It is interesting to read the wedding blogs from last year now turning into baby blogs, mine included. I don't blame you for wanting to wait a little while, I probably would have as well but being that I'm already 31 and would like to have two kids I didn't want to wait too long, so we agreed on waiting about a year and then getting started and we were fortunate that it happened so quickly. Take your time!

  9. Aww and more awws!!! I love the feet, the bump ahead, the wall art for the nursery!!

It is very smart to find yourself and do and enjoy your life together as husband and wife before bringing children into your lives. Though sometimes it can be difficult when people keep asking or when you get the baby fever!

  13. I have to admit, I have baby fever BAD, but I am right there with you.. I can wait a little while longer and enjoy my fur baby :)

  15. You're so smart to wait if this is not the right time for you- I know it can be tempting when everyone else is doing it and asking you when you will, but it's so good that you are self-reflective enough to know now's not the right time for you. And like you said, you'll gather so much inspiration in the meantime :) I absolutely love that first photo as inspiration, and there is so much cuteness going on in this whole post I don't even know where to look first :)

  16. At my age, being unmarried and childless is so uncommon among my friends, so I definitely know how you feel! Nick and I get asked all the time about when we're going to get married :/

  18. so many cute pins!! a-DOR-able!! We too get asked all the time (my husband is a pediatrician after all) - we will be thrilled when we find out we're going to be parents but until then we're enjoying all all of our family & friends lil' ones (and saving as much as we can lol)

  20. Nobody asks me and Mr. A when we are going to start having kids because everyone agrees that we should not reproduce.

  21. Good for you guys doing what is right for you both.
We get asked nary every time we see anyone in a group when the time is coming for us. I don't want children until I can stay home with them, so as soon as I can be at home, it is time. I don't think that will happen for a couple of years so we got Peach. lol.

  22. Those are great inspirational pictures, I like a lot of those ideas.

I've also noticed many people around me starting their families. I got married in 2009 and we're starting to think more seriously about it, but like you said, we want to spend time enjoying our marriage between the two of us first.

  23. aww when your day comes I know you will be a wonderful mother!

  24. Oooo, I love the tree with the frames! That could be cute even without a baby.

I know how you feel. We have several friends that are pregnant and many others with children. In fact, my business partner is about to give birth to her second. But I'm happy just being Auntie for now. :)

  25. When we were dating, it was "when are you getting married". When we got engaged, it was "when is the big day?" once we got married, it became "when are you having babies?" and i'm sure once we have one, the next question will be "when is the next one?" Its an endless cycle of questions LOL but when you are ready, i guarantee it'll be amazing! I can't think of a happier time than now and i thought our wedding day was amazing :) I loved the pics!!! Especially the "bump ahead" photo!
